How Do I Keep My Hardwood Floors Looking New and Clean?

We know you just spent a ton of money on brand new floors for your home that your pets and children
live in. We know sometimes these pets and children can get a little wild. We know you’ll find dog hair
and cheerios on your floor for years. So, you probably want to know how to keep your brand-new floors
that you just spent a ton of money on clean.

1. Felts pads are friends
You should always ask your flooring expert about putting felt pads on the bottom of furniture. If they
give you a crazy look, maybe you should talk to someone else. But hey, we’re not trying to tell you how
to live your life. Felt pads are great for any type of furniture from coffee tables to pool tables. And things
that aren’t tables. You should take into consideration the weight of the furniture when using felt pads,
using thicker pads for heavier furniture. Be sure to change the pads once every 3-6 months.

2. Keep those nails short
I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog who enjoys getting their nails cut. Most tolerate it, but you can see the
dark glint in their eye that says you’ll pay for it later. Unfortunately for them, keeping your pet’s nails
trimmed will help you keep your new floors looking new and scratch free. Your pet doesn’t know it, but
you’ll also be helping them stay healthy.

3. Get a bucket and a *dry* mop
Dry mopping is one of the most effective ways to keep your hardwood floors clean. All you need is a
microfiber cloth attached to a long handle. Cleaning regularly will ensure your hardwood floors stay
clean and looking new!
